ثم ضرب لوث هذه الأمثال لأقسامه الثلاثة:

Synonymous:

The heavens declare the glory of God

And the flrmament showeth his handywork

Antithetic:

The memory of the just is blessed.

But the name of the wicked shall rot

Synthetic:

I waited patiently for the lord.

And he imclined unto me and heard my cry.

ولم ير "لوث" من الموازنة إلا أقسامًا ثلاثة، هي: "التوافق، والتضاد، والتكامل. وقد استدرك عليه "بيرني" عنصر التدرج، وسماه: Step Parallelism، ووصفه بأنه ذلك العنصر:

In which a second line takes up a thought contained in the first line. And re- peating it, makss it as it were, a step upwards for the development of further thought, which is commonly the climax the whole,

وتمثل "بيرني" بالآتي:

He that receiveth this? ? ? my name receiveth me.

And he that receiveth me, receiveth Him that sent me.

ونحن نستدرك عليهما معًا عنصر التفصيل والإجمال، الذي لا تخلو منه الموازنة في لغة. ولعلهما عداه من التكامل. ثم سنستدرك عليهما فيما بعد، أصنافًا هي خاصة بطبيعة النظم العربي، بعد أن دخله الوزن، وانتظمته القافية.

وقد تحدث "لوث" عن الموازنة المركبة، التي تتكون من تداخل العناصر معًا،
